The Executive Order reaffirms President Trump’s commitment to combating anti-Semitism in the United States and around the world. It directs additional measures to advance the policy of protecting American Jews from anti-Semitic harassment, vandalism, and violence on campuses and in schools. The order comes in response to the Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel in October 2023, which unleashed a wave of vile anti-Semitic discrimination and violence.
The order establishes new policies and guidelines for combating campus anti-Semitism, including the submission of reports by executive departments and agencies within 60 days, identifying civil and criminal authorities or actions that can be used to curb or combat anti-Semitism. The Attorney General is encouraged to employ civil-rights enforcement authorities to combat anti-Semitism, and institutions of higher education are required to familiarize themselves with grounds for inadmissibility under U.S.C. 1182(a)(3) to monitor alien students and staff.
