Amendment to Duties to Address the Flow of Illicit Drugs across our Northern Border

The order creates a tariff on certain goods that are brought into the United States from Canada, specifically those related to illicit drugs. The purpose of this is to increase revenue for the government by collecting additional taxes on these goods and ensure that they do not enter the country illegally. The order also amends an existing executive order to provide duty-free de minimis treatment to eligible covered articles described in subsections (a) and (b) of this section, but only if adequate systems are in place to fully collect tariff revenue for these goods. Overall, the order aims to increase security at the U.S.-Canadian border while also generating additional revenue for the government.
