The executive order aims to return the General Services Administration back to its original purpose, which is to provide “an economical and efficient system” for core procurement services for agencies, rather than having multiple agencies carry out these functions separately in an uncoordinated fashion. The order also seeks to eliminate waste and duplication by consolidating domestic Federal procurement into the General Services Administration (GSA). This will allow agencies to focus on their core mission of delivering the best possible services for the American people.
