ADJUSTING IMPORTS OF AUTOMOBILES AND AUTOMOBILEPARTS INTO THE UNITED STATES

This move is aimed at addressing national security concerns related to the reliance of the US auto industry on imported products. The tariff rates will gradually increase over time, with a targeted 50% rate by 2029. The proclamation also establishes a process for including additional automobile parts articles within the scope of the duties imposed, if deemed necessary due to national security concerns.
