Extension of Hiring Freeze

The President signed an executive order that extended the hiring freeze on Federal civilian employees within the executive branch until July 15, 2025, with exceptions for positions related to immigration enforcement, national security, or public safety. The order also stated that this memorandum does not limit the hiring of personnel where such a limit would conflict with applicable law. In addition, it did not abrogate any collective bargaining agreement in effect on the date of the memorandum.
