RESTORING EQUALITY OF OPPORTUNITY AND MERITOCRACY

The Executive Order by President Donald Trump is a step in the right direction for promoting equal opportunity and meritocracy in America, but it falls short in addressing the underlying causes of inequality and inadequate opportunities for many Americans. The order seeks to eliminate disparate impact from policies that do not explicitly target minorities, but fails to address structural issues such as systemic racism, economic inequality, and lack of access to education or healthcare. Furthermore, the order does not mention any specific measures to address these underlying causes, leaving it up to each agency involved to implement its own solutions without providing guidance or direction. The order also fails to provide funding for programs that would promote equal opportunity and meritocracy, further exacerbating the problem.
The Executive Order is a welcome step in the right direction, but more needs to be done to address the structural issues that contribute to inequality and lack of opportunity in America.
