RESTORING ACCOUNTABILITY TO POLICY-INFLUENCING POSITIONS WITHIN THE FEDERAL WORKFORCE

The executive order reinstates and amends Executive Order 13957, which was previously implemented by President Trump in October 2020. The revised order aims to restore accountability within the civil service, particularly for policy-influencing positions.

The amendments to Executive Order 13957 include changes to Schedule F, which is used to designate excepted service positions that are exempt from certain civil service protections. The revised schedule includes new requirements and procedures for managing employees in these positions, such as requiring them to faithfully implement administration policies without personally or politically supporting the current President or administration.
